Done with School YAY!!!!

I'm done with school. And now I must study.  I take the Texas state board test on the 27th. I've been studying as much as I can.  Between getting my guys ready for school and running Jacob everywhere on the planet, I've had a little time.  I want to also start using this blog

as a hair portfolio so that people can see my work.

I just love doing hair.  I'm so glad that I took this avenue in life.  I wish I would have done this right out of high school.  But everything happens for a reason.  I can't wait to get my career started.  Here are some pictures of colors and cuts that I've done as a student.  Hope you enjoy and I hope to have more time to keep this blog updated.

I'm a Student At Aveda! YAY!

I'm officially a Student at the Aveda Institute Of Dallas.  I'm posting my letter of intent which had to be 500 words.  The letter explains it all.

Thanks so much to all my family and friends for all of your support.  I Love You!

Hi Ashley,

Its Nicole Haden, I am so excited to start Cosmetology School at the Aveda Institute.  It has always been my dream to be a Mother, a Photographer, and a Hair stylist.  Below are some reasons why I'm wanting to attend Cosmetology School and also some reasons why I've chosen to apply to The Aveda Institute.

I was raised around Cosmetology.  My Mother and a couple of my Aunts all went through Cosmetology School and it's just something that I've always wanted to do.  I used to work in Customer Service in the Corporate World before I decided to be a stay at home Mom.  When I decided to be a stay at home Mom I was pregnant with my fourth Son.  He is now entering the first grade and it's time for me to get back out there and make a difference in the world.  It's always been a dream of mine to do hair.  And there's nothing more that I'd rather do, than make people feel great about themselves, for the rest of my life.

I am a very personable and social person and would love the opportunity to help people look and feel their best.  There's nothing like walking out of a Spa looking and most important, feeling better than when they walked in.  While also making a great friend in the process.

Also, I have four boys, so not a lot of fun girly stuff in my life.  Hair Styling, Make Up, and Nails etc..I'm pretty sure will fill that void.

So, after lots of thought and talking it over with my Husband, Mother and Best Friend I decided to start the school hunt!  I toured three different schools and all where equally welcoming, nice and pretty close in tuition.  On my drive home from the last tour I was very undecided, I thought that I would know instantly which school would be for me and that just wasn't the case.  So I came home did some more reading and put together a pro/con list.  Yes, me who always knows and goes off instinct had to do a pro/con list!?!?

There are many reasons why I've chosen and decided to apply for The Aveda Institute.  First of all Aveda is absolutely stunning.  When you walk in it appeases all of your senses.  The smell is amazing.  The lighting and colors are easy on your eyes.  The Music is fun for your ears.  The Tea is yummy for your taste buds and and the feel is what you experience while you're there.  It's very warm to say the least.

There are also some more practical reasons for me choosing the Aveda Institute.  As I said earlier, I have four kids so the days and hours offered at Aveda are just perfect for me.  I don't have to take a toll road to get there, so that makes Aveda more cost efficient.  At one other School my eyes started burning and watering from the fumes.  Did not happen at Aveda :).  The florescent lighting in the classroom at another school was not easy on my eyes.  Don't know how I could study and learn with such harsh lighting.  At Aveda the lighting is actually soothing and not a distraction.  Mixing your own color was not an option at one of the other Schools.  That just doesn't make sense to me.  So all in all, Aveda prevailed in the pros/cons list!  Which made me super happy and all warm and fuzzy inside!

I cannot wait to start and learn!  I am so excited about what the future holds for me and to be fortunate enough to learn at the Aveda Institute!  What more could I ask for?

Thank you so much for the opportunity.

Flower Braid

Thank God I have good friends that let me pull on their hair for an hour. I saw this flower braid on a You Tube video (see below) but I have no one to practice on. So my BF so graciously let me braid hers. It turned out beautiful! Love you Alanna!

Last night it was so hot on our way home from a friends house that we decided to stop off and get some flavored ice. Pretty good. I got Key Lime, Nathan got Blue Bubble Gum and Ryan got Grape.

Birthday Party!

Ryan and Nathan had a combined Birthday Party for their 6 and 8th Birthdays this year.  They are growing way too fast!  I remember when Ryan was a baby.  He was the cutest baby.  And such a good baby as well.  He was the calm before the storm and by storm I mean hurricane, thunder and lighting storm all in one.  A storm by the name of Nathan.  Nathan came out cry'in and hasn't stopped.  He was given to me by God to teach me patience.  He is truly amazing though.  He is such a smart boy.  And very well manured at School.  He is very personable as well and makes friends easy.  He truly cares.  We are so blessed!

K Graduation

Nathan graduated Kindergarten.  It was so cute.  We will for sure miss Mrs. Steele.  She was Ryan and Nathan's Kindergarten Teacher and the best teacher ever.
